We have really enjoyed the collaboration with Deutsche Telekom and Telekom MMS. We are definitely convinced to extend this collaboration for the development of a predictive maintenance solution. The portal also has a preference of java script frontends and REST-interface, thus, it is possible to connect to the app. Rüdiger Bierhenke, head of sales for industrial door system, loading technology and access control System Hörmann KG

Requirements

Complex door management requires high monitoring efforts

The core of Hörmann-doors is an individually configurable monitoring, which stores numerous data about the doors such as the log data, information messages and diagnostic data, error messages and commands. As far as possible it was supported over telephone. In case of errors, technicians were sent to operation site. They performed the error analysis and solved the existing problems which resulted into incalculable efforts and it could also be hardly implemented due to the current shortage of specialists.

In many workshops, the requirements were first structured and subsequently an innovative, unique concept was developed, which simplifies the processes, resolves data silos and completely benefits from the Internet of Things. The most important requirements were the central integration of the data from the field as well as quick remote support for errors.

Solution

Smart control portal controlled via mobile

Monitoring and service portal is developed for processing and visual presentation of status data, error data and diagnosis data in real time. The specially developed “smart model” controlled via mobile with the Cloud of Things of Deutsche Telekom AG, communicates with the respective door management of customers. M2M cloud control platform is located entirely in the DSGVO-compliant Telekom-Cloud, which is operated by the ISO certified data center in Germany. The encrypted customer data is transferred to a secured Telekom network. Furthermore, cloud technologies offer an opportunity due to their standardized interfaces to integrate new doors or customize new information at any time. The smooth operation of monitoring portal and service portal is ensured by the2nd and 3rd level support by Telekom MMS.

Benefits

Reduced costs, improved service

The developed smart control portal- solution provides new insights and connections among the respective doors of a company. Control information is processed based on the target audience and is transparent. Flow of information enables remote monitoring and problem diagnosis without using any resource. The travel costs of technicians are reduced and service performance of Hörmann is increasing massively: The downtime is reduced to the minimum and the service life of high speed doors is increased due to early troubleshooting.

The provision of adequate specialists for service and maintenance was previously a major problem, however now many task can be finished remotely and the staff can be used efficiently. Reliable application management, high agility and software quality with low operating costs are other benefits regarding efficiency, security and reliability of the platform.
