RPA Cloud Service for EPLAN

More about the project

Automated Import of Catalog Data Due to Servicetrace X1 Robotic Solution

EPLAN develops one of the world's leading software solutions for electrical design in machine, plant and control cabinet construction. Since 1984, EPLAN has been a provider of software and services for all aspects of engineering in the fields of electrical engineering, automation and mechatronics and employs around 1,150 people in 50 countries worldwide.

In order to be able to offer planning software for electrical engineering, data of various components used in machine, plant and control cabinet construction must be available - manually entered, this process takes up a lot of valuable employee time. Since efficiency is a guiding principle of EPLAN, the import of catalog data should be automated. Telekom MMS implemented a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) service for this purpose.

Reference at a Glance

Task

Automating the import of catalog data.

Solution

Implementation of an RPA cloud service based on the Servicetrace X1 Robotic Solution.

achievement

Result

Error-free, automated data import around the clock, giving employees more time for creative tasks instead of monotonous work.

Benefit for our Customer

  • Employee satisfaction by reduction of monotonous work

  • Cost reduction through less manual effort

  • Process acceleration through automated, error-free data import

Requirements

Up-to-date and error-free database of the automation components

As a software provider for the planning of engineering solutions for complex plants, EPLAN provides component data from a wide range of manufacturers in the EPLAN Data Portal. Until now, the data and information sheets of all parts and components had to be manually fed into the database and maintained. This caused monotonous and error-prone work with considerable time expenditure.

Solution

A bot that allows error-free imports of catalog data around the clock

An RPA cloud solution that is easy to manage and user-friendly to operate - after evaluating and selecting the work processes to be automated and deploying a solution platform, the RPA solution is set. With the Servicetrace X1 Robotic Process Automation solution, Telekom MMS meets this requirement.
The RPA cloud service provides access to process and user management, as well as reports and dashboards. Alarm management is also integrated.

Benefit

Manual Data Import comes to an end

The bot takes over the data import of the article data without errors and around the clock. This leads to an acceleration of the editing processes and thus saves time. The considerable amount of time spent on manual data entry, which is prone to errors, is eliminated. Time that employees can use again for creative tasks. The imported data is always up-to-date, so the components for electrical project planning are always up to date with the software.
